Pushchair in a Suitcase c1948. The idea for a pushchair in a suitcase was first patented in 1885, this example is of a much later date however. It is thought to have been designed by a motor cycle dealer called Ozzy Halliwell, he did not produce very many himself and eventually sold the rights to Tan Sad. However it is not believed that Tan Sad ever went into production. In original condition and very heavy.

The Maclaren Buggy (left) 1975 (right) Dolls Maclaren Play ‘Buggy’ 1984. Owen Maclaren a retired aeronautical designer developed the ‘Buggy’ in 1965. Having been involved in the design of the Spitfires undercarriage, he knew a thing or two about lightweight, rigid, load bearing structures capable of folding into a small space. The Maclaren Buggy is the forerunner of nearly all modern prams and pushchairs, I found this one easier to push than my Grandsons modern one and it folds down a lot smaller too, so this one was still in use until spring 2010.
