Victoria c1865. Make unknown. This small 3 wheeled Victoria has been repainted and at present is still awaiting some attention. Unfortunately the back wheels are thought to be replacements as they are metal and rather too heavy for pram wheels, the front wheel is wood with a iron tyre. The upholstery is green with porcelain buttons, the ends of the handle are finished with German silver. |

Simpson & Fawcett & Co. Bassinet c1870. Simpson, Fawcett & Co also known as The Leeds Pail and Perambulator Works, produced many hundreds of beautiful perambulators and bassinets. This example has been extensively restored (see restoration page) it has wooden wheels and is made from canes. Unfortunately the hood is missing, if anyone knows where we may find one, please email I would be very grateful.

German Bassinet c1880. This large bassinet is difficult to push and it’s quite hard to see where you are going as the hood is rather tall. It has very rudimentary springing as did many bassinets so as well as not being a comfortable ride for baby, the body was often wrenched off the chassis. Another one that came to us in bits, the wheels are wooden with metal spokes and tyres and are rather warped. |
